Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country that falls in the high rainfall zone; the country has a fertile soil and dense trees. The occurrence of illegal logging in tropical countries has resulted in an extreme climate in the country. As a result, rainwater flows freely and this may result in the flooding of the lower areas of the country. Surakarta is a low area with a high amount of rainfall. Surakarta area is always inundated due to the high shipment of water from Boyolali, Wonogiri and the surrounding area. Geographically, the city of Surakarta is between 110º45'15"-110º45'35" BT and 7º36'00"-7º56'00" LS with an area of 44.04 km2 . Annual rainfall ranges from 22 mm to 560 mm in average. Thus, there is a need to develop good drainage management and sustainable systems in the country. The lapses in previous research studies were improved using the MASIM (Material Simulation) method. This research model used a simulation software to investigate the process of flooding. This study aims to provide an overview of sustainable drainage arrangements on flood minimization, channel efficiency, potentially flooded area mapping, and solutions to the overflow of water channels. Keywords: Drainage, Drainage Surakarta, Sustainable drainage.
